Back to the Blog

So I guess that none of us did any blogging this summer. I am now back in Illinois. It is raining today, but that is okay because it has bee so hot and muggy the last couple of days that the rain is a nice relief.

For those of you who haven't heard I've made a big decision. (drum roll please) I want to move back to California sometime within the next year. I dropped my classes this semester because, after researching, I realized that there are very few positions for elementary art teachers in California. The program I have been doing gets me a K-12 certification to teach art. With it I could probably still teach highschool art in CA, but I think I would rather go to Sac State for a year and get credentialed to teach regular elementary school. Then I could be a really creative 4th or 5th grade teacher. The way the program is set up out here, it would take me at least 4 more semesters to finish here, while I can do 2 intense semesters at Sac State and be done. I want to fix up Suarez' house to live in, which is a big project, but I love that kind of thing so I can't wait.

I hope you all read this sometime soon.

Kelly Brothers (except Brendan) Scale Half Dome!

We had a very weird weekend. Brendan's brother Brian flew down from Seattle and spent the night. On Friday we headed down to Yosemite. Brendan went down I-5 instead of 99. Luckily I got him on the right track before Tracy! We met up with brother Michael and his newest girlfriend in Yosemite on Fri afternoon part way up the trail to the top of Yosemite Falls. Then we all went back to Mariposa, where we were spending the night, and met up with brother Neil. Saturday THEY all got up early to hike up Half Dome. While they struggled up the trail and rock, Brendan and I slept in, drove around the park including up to Glacier Point and hiked along the Merced River stopping to watch climbers way up El Capitan along the way. Then we headed to Gilroy where we spent the night. Why? Because Michael and Neil wanted everyone to go through boxes of books and dishes at their mother's house in Capitola (Did you know she passed away peacefully 2 weeks ago). So we spent Sunday going through the "who wants this" ordeal of books that were their father's college text books! What fun was that??? I did get 3 really nice pottery serving bowls and ransacked the garden digging up iris, geraniums, calla lilies, and some really pretty blue daisy like flowers that are really pretty. Then we drive back home on Sunday with Brian in tow. He flew home on Monday. Whew!

Laptop

Well, yesterday I bought myself a laptop. It seems good, maybe a bit slow though. It's a gateway, widescreen, and has Windows Vista on it.

Can She Do It????

I have no clue what I am doing except trying to become part of this family Blog. What's a Blog anyway??? I just finished washing thousands of dishes. I had fourteen parent helpers for lunch. It was fun but I'm glad it is over. Now, let's see if I can make this work and get it posted. Computer lady I am not.

Yes I'm coming home.

I am coming home sometime. We are still working out the details, but hopefully Laura and Kris will be able to fly out and spend some time with me out here in mid June and then we will take a road trip home. With gas prices the way they are, I may try to sell my jeep and buy something fuel efficient before the trip. (We'll see if that actually happens). Speaking of my jeep, I was rear-ended this week. This girls just ran right into my rusty bumper. Now I am hoping that I will get a new one out of the deal if her insurance company is cooperative. Now it looks terrible rusty and smashed. I have a lot to do if it is going to be fit to sell.

On another note today is my mother's birthday. Happy Birthday Mom!

Does anyone know anything about how this works? Aunt Kathie was talking to Alicia about it yesterday.
